Painting Experiment 2

This is just an experiment and i feel its almost a polar opposite of what i want to do with paint. i don't like applying paint i want to make something that is just paint possibly something structural.

Painting Experiment

There is so many more interesting things to do with paint. I know this piece kind of reflects Action painting but it is only an initial idea that side lines a more contemporary piece I am working on.

Ever since I did the performance 'Baptism' and whilst whilst working on my next piece 'Ritual'  I want to find out what I can do with paint and if it can take me anywhere else with my interactive pieces.

I think with the performance the piece actually developed and evolved and i think it was always about how what the objects turned into and how they became a new piece of art. It also challenged the ownership of the work. Are the paintings now mine?

The Baptised paintings

These Four paintings where originally painted by Jan Sitek and then i baptised them in Turpentine 

Baptism Performance on Friday 10th June

 On the 10th of June i will baptize four paintings by Jan Sitek with white spirit and turps these are three photos of the setup

The second photo down is by far the smoothest picture i have ever been in 

Development for collaboration piece (Baptism)

 The Collaboration piece is with Jan Sitek and he wants to escape from being a painter so he is able to produce more work and from different materials. How this is going to happen is i am going to baptize Four of his paintings each one significant to an element of of his work. There are other elements to it but i would rather them be seen at the performance which will be at the UEL 2nd year end of year show on the 9th or 10th of June.

Respond/Reject: Originality (Working title, Development for an installation)

This isnt the piece just a quick way to show the content up to now. What this content is that i started with a sculpture i made and asked someone to draw it, then i asked someone to draw the image that the last person drew and so on. ths is going to be a slide show with sculpture.

This work comes from a series of artworks where i involve other people to commit actions in order to create understanding. This piece itself questions why people are still challenged by artwork created 15 years ago and how a lot of awards such as the Turner are unable to introduce younger artist into the shortlist as they were in the 90's
